Given the lack of guidance and subjectivity surrounding scientific research, it is very difficult for students from law and humanities to come up with a publishable research paper or thesis. For one, legal research is often loosely used to mean a lot of things that aren't exactly research - making it difficult for a student to distinguish the fact from the misinformation that surrounds it. For another, there are very few definitive guides on how to undertake research in subjects other than the natural or social sciences.This course aims to fill this gap. This course will act as a comprehensive guide for those interested in undertaking research in the field of law and humanities. This course may also be helpful for students from disciplines other than law and humanities. However, please keep in mind that this course was originally delivered keeping in mind the law and humanities, and hence examples and illustrations have been designed accordingly. The principles and fundamentals, however, will be helpful across disciplines. The course delivery and presentation style has been made keeping in mind Indian/South Asian students particularly. The delivery style resembles Indian conversations, and hence may be a bit uncomfortable for non-Indian/western students. This decision to stick to the Indian style was made considering the fact that very few online resources focus specifically on Indian students. The course instructor is a Ph.D. scholar, UGC-NET (JRF)-holder, and an Institute Silver Medalist from IIT Kharagpur.
