In this course I take you through the steps to make garden obelisks and plant cages, using either cultivated willow or foraged willow. We look at several jig options for making the structures, covering such aspects of how to select material when foraging, how to set the frame sticks into the jig and how to weave and shape the structure. The key technique of filling and strengthening the structure is the Pairing weave, which is a strategic skill to learn as it is also a foundational skill in basketry and fence construction too.
