I am a Mechanical Engineer by qualification and a journalist by profession. As a child, I always loved watercolour but it was only in 2007, when I was in my first job that I actually picked up the brush and started painting. It was a difficult path in the beginning. Repeated failures often pushed me to give up painting. But what kept me going was my love for watercolour and more importantly, the boost given by small milestones that I achieved while overcoming my fears.Today, I can confidently say that watercolour is my best companion and continues to stand with me, making my tough times easier and enriching my happy times. Why watercolour? Why everyone needs a hobby, especially in today's times?In these digital times, when moments of solace are few, I believe that watercolour, or for that matter, any art form is the path to unadulterated happiness. It is an activity that makes you forget the noise around you and brings time to a standstill. I experienced it 15 years ago, and continue to experience it even today. It just never gets monotonous.
