Through a structured approach, students will learn to quickly capture landscapes, understand composition, and work with contrast. The course begins with simple exercises to improve brush control and pencil sketching skills. Students will practice creating expressive lines, filling shapes, and transitioning from thick to thin strokes. Next, we move on to quick two-minute and three-minute landscape sketches, focusing on capturing essential forms without over-detailing. Students will also learn shading techniques to create depth and dimension in their sketches. As the course progresses, we introduce black-and-white watercolor sketches to help students analyze tonal values and contrast.
