This course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to address cyberbullying effectively in their classrooms. We begin by defining what cyberbullying is, the various forms it can take, and its potential psychological and academic impact on students.Following this, we delve into the signs of cyberbullying. Participants will learn about behavioral changes, academic performance dips, emotional distress signals, and digital footprints that may indicate a student is being cyberbullied.The course's core focuses on prevention and intervention strategies. We explore ways to create a safe online environment, including setting up clear digital conduct guidelines, promoting responsible online behavior, and implementing digital citizenship programs.By the end of this course, educators will have a well-rounded understanding of cyberbullying and practical strategies to create a safe, respectful online environment for their students.About the SpeakerPeter Smith, an Emeritus Professor, led the Unit for School and Family Studies at Goldsmiths University of London from 1998-2011 and continues his research and international collaborations. He's a Fellow of multiple societies and has received notable awards, including an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Vienna. His recent work includes co-leading an Erasmus+ grant on cyberbullying among disadvantaged youth. An active member of anti-bullying networks, Smith frequently speaks on school bullying at various global institutions and events.
