This has been particularly true since 2020. Billions of people around the world had their lives turned upside down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many lost loved ones, jobs and livelihoods. Hundreds of millions of workers were forced to work from home (and many still are today). UNESCO data shows that nearly 1.6 billion learners in more than 190 countries, 94% of the world's student population, were affected by the closure of educational institutions at the peak of the crisis. All this means massive change. We are all learning to adjust to a new normal post the pandemic.We also have other massive changes going on such as rapid advances in technology. In fact Covid-19 is an accelerator of technology change. We live in a time of transitions. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Survey data 2020 shows that nearly half of all workers will need reskilling by 2025. The concept of the job for life is gone and reinvention and change is the name of the game. In 2022/2023 we also have a food and energy crisis precipitated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We have soaring inflation and interest rates.
