So getting the preparation sorted out so you are ready to paint can only be helpful then you are free to totally concentrate on the work in hand. I often slip up myself and find I don't have everything I need to hand and then I am out of flow as I sort myself out. It can even be that you have just what you have to do to fix a certain problem, then you forget what you were going to do.Take a look and just remember to think of these things every time you start a new painting and during the process.
