New for fall of 2023! I'll be adding the lessons over the next several months, please check back often to catch the new lessons. Are you an experienced TV producer? Or are you interested and desiring to break into working in television but have no experience and don't know where to start? This is the course for you.Your instructor is self-taught in the field with over 20 years experience in TV production:-He was one of the most popular returning guests on an internationally broadcast show with an estimated audience of 8 to 11 million viewers-Has directed recordings with 3 camera switching shoots-Has produced, written, hosted, and edited 160 shows airing internationally for the past 11 years-His show first airs in Canada and so has to meet the Canadian Content ratings-Has acted as consultant for TV stations-Is conducting ongoing research into the use of Artificial Intelligence in multimedia productions-Got his start on YouTube and literally produced his first pilot episodes while living out of a suitcase. So yes, even if you are an 'outsider' with no formal training in broadcast TV production, you can break into the fieldYou will learn the technical side of multimedia production, but also logistics like the dreaded Canadian Content regulations which affects not just hopeful Canadian producers, but any producer who wishes to have their production available to Canada's population. You will learn how to maximize your minimal resources by study and practice so you can see for yourself how even common smart phones have opened incredible doors of opportunity for television production. This has been demonstrated by multiple news organizations which started as small grass roots groups which have expanded to large, multi-national organizations. You will learn the basics of producing non-fiction (i.e., news reporting or commentary) as well as fiction. You will learn a raft of techniques in creative writing and see first hand some team writing techniques. You will join us in our writer's room where we will create a TV show out of thin air and write at least the pilot episode so you can see this process which is normally very secretive.Over and over again you will learn not just the what and how of television production, but the why. Why you should take the time to understand and effectively reach the deaf community. Why you should use Artificial Intelligence to inspire you, and why you should or should not use it to perform some of the work involved in multimedia productions. Why you should focus on certain frequencies of sound, and why green screen techniques work or fail. And at the end of the day? Why starting from scratch and producing videos for YouTube will give you invaluable lessons and experience to reach that demanding, ultimate goal of broadcast television.
