In this course you will learn about the Vikings, their weapons, tools and buildings. You will learn Norwegian vocabulary for the different weapons and tools and you will also have the chance to learn some basic Norwegian. Speak like a Viking descendant. Most of the Viking descendants you will find in the Nordic countries. This is why learning a Nordic language will give you a unique knowledge of the history of the Vikings, their culture, and day-to-day life. So which Nordic language should you learn? It's simple. Norwegian due to the following facts. Norwegian is the easiest of the Nordic languages to learn for native English speakers. It is often ranked as the third easiest language an English speaker can learn. It was the Norwegian Vikings that traveled far west and discovered America way before Columbus. The Norwegian Vikings also found Greenland and settled on Iceland and the Faroe Islands. The Swedes went east and south all the way to Turkey and the Danes made hell in today's Great Britain. The Norwegians are the explorers, those who boldly go where no man has gone before. This has been true since and it is still true to this very day. Norway has the best collection of Viking ships and they have even made a replica of their famous party house Gildahallen in Borvestfold County. What you will learn in this course and this course you will learn some basic Norwegian gear towards Vikings and their way of life. Here are some of the vocabulary you'll learn in this course. Viking weapons like the Ulfberth sword, axes that were even more common than swords, bow and arrow as well as shields to mention some. Tools they used in daily life, hammers, axe and other tools used for farming. Boats they used, both for exploration, trade and war. Common animals both on their farms but also in their religion. Viking houses from the most common longhouses to their king's party houses. Viking religion and gods is called Norse mythology today. We will have a brief look at the most important gods called Azur and their counterpart demons called Jotna. You will also learn how to greet people, tell them your name and say goodbye in Norwegian.
