Russian is the most widely spoken Slavonic language. A total estimated number of between 255 million and 285 million worldwide. Russian is a beautiful language that is spoken by millions around the world! Russian is written using the Cyrillic script. It distinguishes between consonant phonemes with palatal secondary articulation and those without the so-called "soft" and "hard" sounds. It is hard to find time to learn a new language, however! If you are travelling to Russia, as with any foreign country, you will find that you have more interesting experiences if you can speak and understand a little of the language. Learning Russian is a challenge for most native English speakers.
