This course is on analyzing linear control systems using root locus. Root locus sketch is used as a tool to analyze the behavior of the closed-loop system, given the location of the poles and zeros of the open-loop system. In other words, the root locus determines the location of the poles of the closed-loop system which in turn determines the behavior of the closed-loop system. This course is focused on analyzing only, which includes sketching of the root locus and then analysis. Designing controllers/compensators using root locus is the topic of the next course.By taking this course you will know the root locus concept, why it is useful, how to sketch the root locus, and how to analyze the behavior of the system given the root locus sketch.
