Psychology is scientific study of mind and behavior. The word psychology has been derived from Two Greek words PSYCHE (meaning, Soul, mind and Spirit "with LOGIA that has come from LOGOS, meaning ‘Knowledge or Study of Soul. Wilhelm Wundt is the person that is identified as the father of Psychology; he also opened Institute for Experimental Psychology at the University Leipzig in Germany in 1879. This was the first laboratory dedicated to Psychology as the opening of the Modern Psychology.Psychology broke away from philosophy and physiology and emerged as a separate discipline some 100 years ago.Since its emergence as a separate science it has undergone a series of changes in its research methodology and definition.Psychology is also said study of mind and soul and General psychology is a branch of psychology that provides fundamental principles, theories, and concepts within the field. He has to deal also with what belonged to the past, and which has yet to happen in the future. This very wide span of time, stretching back to the past and extending forth into the future, has made man's environment very complex.In this connection complex environment requires not only those capacities of acting and knowing with which man is born, but lot of other capacities which he has to acquire. Other living beings can manage with the capacities with which they are born. Many of them may not at all have to acquire any new capacities to live in their environment.
