This is a professional training course for healthcare professionals to learn the management of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder is a common condition affecting up to 30% of the adult population and 11% of young people. Patients with this condition usually have pain in their jaw, difficulties opening or closing the mouth and clicking sound during the jaw movement. Because of the complexity of the anatomical structures, assessment and management for this condition require specific knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals.This online course provides a basic understanding of Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD). It is designed for healthcare professionals including physiotherapists, medical doctors, chiropractors, osteopaths and related researchers. Participants will learn the background information of the conditions, anatomy and biomechanics of the normal Temporomandibular Joint and pathophysiological mechanics. The course will demonstrate comprehensive assessment procedures. Treatment approach will be discussed according to clinical experience and research evidence. Participants will gain insight into clinical practice for TMJ disorder.After the course, participants will be able to identify TMJ disorder and appropriate differential diagnosis, construct compressive assessment including subjective and objective examination, propose effective treatments based on clinical experience and research evidence.Remarks: This course is not for the general public or patients with TMJ disorder.
