This course explores the myths and religious practices of the Vinča civilization, one of the oldest in Europe. Students will study the spiritual beliefs, rituals, symbols, and archaeological findings that provide insights into how the Vinča people understood the world. By analyzing sacred artifacts, fertility ceremonies, and ancient myths, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how these beliefs influenced daily life, social structures, and the relationship with nature in Vinča society.The course will focus on the role of deities and divine figures within the Vinča culture, examining how these beliefs shaped religious practices and were reflected in art, pottery, and sacred spaces. Students will explore how rituals connected to life cycles, agriculture, and fertility played a central role in the culture, as well as how spirituality influenced survival and community cohesion.In addition, the course will explore the impact of Vinča spirituality on later European civilizations, including its connections to other Neolithic societies.
