What is this course about? This course is about various memory techniques that can be used in consecutive interpreting to improve your performance and make interpreting less stressful. When working as a consecutive interpreter one often has to memorise and recall long passages of speech, sometimes up to five minutes in duration. Experienced interpreters can deal with speeches that last up to ten minutes! How do they do this?The most obvious answer is 'lucky them, they have great memory". However, a good memory is not always the answer. Even people with "ordinary" memory (that is, the majority of us) can achieve the same results by using various memory triggers and having good note-taking skills.This course will provide: a comprehensive overview of the techniques that you may find useful, many examples of how to use these techniques, a chance to practice the most common and useful memory techniques. Who is this course for?This course is for beginner interpreters and also interpreters with an intermediate level of experience, who want to further develop their interpreting skills and make interpreting better, easier and less stressful.
