Widgets were introduced with the second iteration of SwiftUI and starting iOS 16, new features were added which are backed by the existing WidgetKit. WWDC22 not only introduced lock screen widgets, but with the release of iOS 16.1 they brought in new features like live activities and dynamic Island. WidgetKit is native to SwiftUI and all the widget-related developmnet happens in SwiftUI.This course is designed to cover WidgetKit end-to-end. All of this is written in iOS 16 and SwiftUI 4. In this course, we will build 15+ widgets to cover various different aspects of WidgetKit. We will learn about newly introduced features along the way and by the end you will know how to make a widget for your own unique app. We will take a deep dive into static widgets, network-based widgets, map-based widgets as well as configurable widgets. We will also look at the deep linking strategies which as specific to the widgets along with core data-backed widgets.We will create live activity and lock screen widgets that were introduced with iOS 16.
