Long COVID, refers collectively to the constellation of long-term symptoms that some people experience after SARS-CoV-2 infection. It is estimated that 10-20% develop a variety of mid- and long-term effects, those include fatigue, breathlessness, and cognitive dysfunction (for example, confusion, forgetfulness, or a lack of mental focus and clarity). Overall, 1 in 13 adults in the U.S. (7.5%) have "long COVID" symptoms, defined as symptoms lasting three or more months after first contracting the virus, and that they didn't have prior to their COVID-19 infection. Long COVID can also directly and indirectly affect mental health. Prolonged suffering and distress due to long COVID can impact psychological well-being. These symptoms might persist from the initial illness or develop after recovery (12 weeks after initial infection). Symptoms can come and go or relapse over time, indicating that Long COVID partially is driven by viral persistence. The condition can affect a person's ability to perform daily activities such as work or household things. According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) research shows that nearly 145 million people around the world in the first two years of the pandemic suffered from any of the three symptom clusters of long COVID: fatigue with bodily pain and mood swings, cognitive problems, and shortness of breath. We built a series of lectures on Acute Covid, Long Covid and conditions developed as adverse events after COVID-19 Vaccination to help you learn on more on topics like: neurocovid, thrombosis, vascular issues, immunological aspects after SARS-CoV-2 infection, treatment modalities and how to tackle those mechanisms involved, clinical case to help you understand how this disease can be tackled. In this lecture you will learn everything that is needed to understand how thrombi are developing and what is a cascade of mechanisms develops leading to symptoms of Long COVID and symptoms in people with adverse events. Please sign up to this short lecture to learn more , especially if you have somebody who struggles with this disease.
