In this course, we will explore how to design effective and engaging lesson plans using a data-driven approach. We will review a sample lesson and evaluate its effectiveness by analyzing its SAMR level and effect size. Using this analysis as a starting point, we will discuss creative ways to upgrade the lesson plan to make it more engaging and impactful for students. By working collaboratively, we will share insights and ideas to help educators add new and effective strategies to their teaching repertoire. This session promises to be a valuable learning opportunity for any educator looking to enhance their lesson planning skills and elevate student learning outcomes.We willAnalyze the SAMR level of a given lesson plan: Students will learn how to evaluate the technology integration in a lesson plan using the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) model. They will be able to identify which level the lesson is at and explain why, based on evidence from the lesson plan.Evaluate the effect size of a given lesson plan: Students will learn how to measure the effectiveness of a given lesson plan by reviewing research on its effect size. They will be able to identify which elements of the lesson plan have the most impact on student learning, and compare the effect size of different lesson plans.Generate ideas for upgrading a lesson plan: Students will learn how to use a critical lens to identify areas for improvement in a given lesson plan.
