This will begin with an overview of what is an opening statement including a discussion of the purpose of the opening statement in trial. The viewer will be taken through the structure of an opening statement including how the information should be presented and the timeline and/or story given the audience/jurors. You will learn the importance of telling your client's story. The jury does not know who you are, they do not have any information about your client. In fact, many jurors will wonder why this matter could not be resolved without a trial. You will learn to help them understand the importance of their role in the litigation process as well as to convey why your client is seeking relief before the court. You will also learn the importance of humanizing your client. You will also learn the importance of providing the ask.
