How to Draw A Pine Tree. Trees can be discouraging for artists because of their complexity. However learning to focus in on the essentials you can create very convincing drawings of trees. We focus on the basic shapes of the tree. The we look for the basic value relationships to create a feeling of form and structure. Then we add textures that emulate the type of leaves we are seeing. Finally we study the branching systems that are the basis of all trees. By combining these ideas we can create very convincing tree drawings. We then use the ideas while drawing a pine tree in graphite.Forests of Trees present the artist with a lot of problems. Trees become part of an entangled mass of trees that make up the forest. To deal with all the confusion of thousands of shapes both large and small the needs to learn to design, clarify, and know how to design the trees for a clearer and more powerful impact on the view. While drawing this pine tree, which is situated in a small grove we discuss how to redesign and change the tree to be more interesting.
