My course will walk through the details and challenges of DNA isolation and also how to circumvent them. The course begins with the basic knowledge on DNA and its discovery. The course content is designed in such a way that students will get to know where it can be applied. The beauty of DNA extraction lies in its universality regarding the collection of samples from where the DNA will be isolated which is also included here. The course describes the rationale behind each step of DNA isolation. A number of obstacles have to be encountered before reaching the goal. My course outlines all of them and provide solutions to all of the challenges. Knowing the organism is another aspect that is also included in the course. One needs to know the background of the source organism from where DNA will be isolated. I have tried to include illustrations with pictures wherever required. I have also included handling tips where it is required to perform a step for the ease of the students. The language used in the course is simple to follow and avoids superfluous jargons. I tried to make this course interesting, attractive, and also interactive by posing basic questions and then answering them with logic. Overall, upon completion of this course, a student will be able to appreciate the layout, structure and the knowledge that is imparted through this course.
