Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common HAIs, making up to 40% of infections reported in acute care hospitals. Urinary catheters are used in 15-25% of hospitalized patients and are often placed for inappropriate indications (CDC, US, 2018). WHO is also promoting good hand hygiene to reduce the spread of pandemic COVID-19. On 5 May 2020, WHO also started new campaign to enhance hand hygiene in healthcare.
