Hospitalized patients frequently require multiple intravenous medications to manage their illness. These medications are administered via infusion bag, syringe or Y-site where two or more IV lines meet. However, not all medications are compatible with each other, and they may exhibit physical or chemical incompatibilities. These incompatibilities can result in the formation of particulates, which pose significant health risks to patients. While physical incompatibilities are often visible, many chemical incompatibilities are not, as they usually involve colorless reactions.
