In chess the endgame (or end game or ending) is the stage of the game when few pieces are left on the board. In particular, pawns become more important as endgames often revolve around attempting to promote a pawn by advancing it to the eighth rank. The king, which has to be protected in the middlegame owing to the threat of checkmate, becomes a strong piece in the endgame. It can be brought to the center of the board and act as a useful attacking piece.Hence I have the King and Pawn endgames in this course.The chess endgame with a king and a pawn versus a king is one of the most important and fundamental endgames, other than the basic checkmates (Lasker 1915). It is an important endgame for chess players to master, since most other endgames have the potential of reducing to this type of endgame via exchanges of pieces. Players need to be able to determine quickly whether a given position is a win or a draw, and to know the technique for playing it. The crux of this endgame is whether or not the pawn can be promoted (or queened), so checkmate can be forced.In this course, I have covered few of the most important King and pawn Endgame positions, and I have tried my best to explain the given positions with all different and possible variations.In this course I have also covered the most important concepts like "Opposition", "Outflanking", Breakthrough, and TriangulationBy studying the positions covered in this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of all the concepts which are applicable in a particular position and how those concepts should be used.
