Using a human and organizational performance lens, of learning and improving, students will learn best practices for: - agenda setting- being proactive- structuring discussions- managing action itemsThis course covers how to understand the elements of a Terms of Reference, defining a quorum, what are some decision making options, and how employer and worker representatives can be selected.Agendas are discussed in detail such as how to differentiate between leading and lagging indicators, and why JHSCs would benefit on focusing on both. The contents of a good agenda are discussed as well as tips for not forgetting important activities such as Terms of Reference review.A comprehensive template minutes is reviewed, outlining key elements, and how action items can be tagged with a unique identifier. Creating goals is an important aspect to increase the sense of purpose of the JHSC. How to create goals is discussed with examples of what a good goal would include.Meeting processes, using accepted practices based on Robert's Rules of Order are discussed in detail, such as how to create a motion. Consensus building is described as to why its important and how it can be beneficial to JHSC function.
