You cannot just jump right into federal contract- you need to do some ground work first. In order to qualify for any federal government opportunity, you will need to registered in the system for awards management. The government contracting rules, regulations and procedures dictate how you do business with the government. The two most important laws you need to be aware of are federal acquisition regulations and federal acquisition streamlining act. Because the government is a sovereign entity, it has right that commercial businesses do not have. For example, the government has the right to unilaterally revise the contract, so long as changes are within the parameters of the contract. In other to prepare for your bid, read what you are required to submit. The solicitation should tell you what information to include in your bid and the date for responding. Read the entire solicitation, including any attachment or schedules. The solicitation should contain all of the information that you need.
