This is a course for dental students primarily - but practicing dentists can get something very important from it as well. You may ask yourself HOW do you know whether you are doing GOOD dentistry - that is dentistry that will last the patient for the expected lifetime. You need to know WHAT causes restorations to fail. In this course we will look for specific errors in the preparation of a tooth that will NOT allow a restoration to be done so that it will last its expected lifetime. IF you care to do good dentistry for your patients, you MUST LOOK for these errors. We will learn in this course HOW to look for these errors so that you do not MISS anything that compromises the work you provide for your patient.More specifically, for dental students, you will learn to THINK in terms of the patient and natural tooth situations while you are working on a typodont, learning conventional preparations. You will learn to SEE what needs to be seen so that changes CAN be made so that your work actually does succeed.
