This course is divided in three sections. The first will cover the context, the second would cover conveying systems and the third is about HVAC systems.CONTEXTIn the Context, will be presented the rational why electro-mechanical systems seem to be left behind. Then a non-exhaustive list of reference cost books used in North America, Europe and Australia will be presented. Lastly a summary note is given about imperial and metrics system, especial on how to change a value from one system to another.CONVEYIING SYSTEMSThere are various types of conveying systems that can be used in buildings: Elevators, Escalators, moving walks and lifts. What characterizes each of them? How to differentiate them? When are they needed? How to size them, on a high level, for a specific building? How much do they cost for a specific application? Those are the main questions that would be covered in this section. A case study is provided.HVAC SYSTEMSWhy are HVAC systems required in buildings? In order to answer this question, concepts of indoor air quality and thermal comfort will be covered. Then the most common building HVAC equipment will be presented. This section will provide you with the tools to understand contaminants in building, determine ventilation, heating and cooling high level requirements of a building. And how to determine the size and costs of an HVAC Systems? Cost tables will be presented, and the technological concepts covered will be valuable to address the question of costing. A case study is provided
