"A drawing is worth more than a thousand words". Engineering drawing is the universal language of engineers, technicians, architects, product designers & developers. It finds applications even in the contemporary areas of graphics and animation development. Explosion of the computer applications is seen in all fields of studies. Engineering drawing is no exception. This course addresses and fills the lacuna of computer applications in engineering drawing. Manual drafting is now getting obsolete and getting replaced by the CAD software packages.This course work mentors the students in gaining the fundamental concepts of engineering drawing with the usage of 2D software AutoCAD and also a 3D geometric modeling software CATIA. Basics of AutoCAD and CATIA are touched upon. It is emphasized here that this is not an exhaustive course on either of the softwares of AutoCAD or CATIA. This course is intended to clarify the grey areas of engineering drawing like the orthography, isometry and the perspectives.
