Climate change is mainly caused due to the energy from fossil fuels - coal, oil, and gas. We need "drastic" and "immediate" changes in energy use patterns as per Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).The Energy Literacy Training aims to educate the masses on an understanding of energy generation and consumption, and its impact on the environment in the context of self, state, and country. This training helps people in understanding energy, its generation, consumption, wastage, carbon footprint, impact on the environment, means to avoid and minimize energy usage, alternatives energy solutions, ways to become carbon neutral, misconceptions on solar energy, and approach to adopt solar energy solutions. The training would consist of 12 modules, each module with a duration of about 10-15 minutes. The total duration of the training would be about 2 to 3 hours. Each module would consist of 4'Es - Establish the concept/information regarding to module, an Example to get the sense of the concept, and Exercise (2 to 3 min long) for people to think and write related to their understanding and finally take an Exam having 5 questions (2 to 3 min long). At the end of the training session, the participants will write their pledge about what actions they will take to avoid wastage, how they will use energy efficiently, and how they will generate solar energy (if they wish to). Those under 18 may use the services only if a parent or guardian opens their account, handles any enrollments, and manages their account usage.
