As per the JNTUK Syllabus the course contents are delivered. In this video an introduction has been given on the syllabus and the course outcomes are also discussed. The course consists of 5 units. Unit1: Transmission Lines-1, Unit-2: Transmission Lines - 2, Unit-3: Electrostatics, Unit-4: Magneto-statics & Maxwell's equations, Unit-5: EM Wave characteristics. The students required a preliminary knowledge of vector analysis & coordinate geometry. Unit-1 & 2 discusses about the concepts related to types of transmission lines, transmission line equations, primary and secondary parameters, VSWR, reflection coefficient, lossless and distortion less transmission lines, infinite transmission line, impedance matching techniques, input impedance, smith chart etc. Unit-3 &4 deals with the concepts related to Electrostatics & Magneto-statics, determination of Electric & Magnetic field strength at a given point using coulombs law and Gauss's law, energy density, capacitance, potential, boundary conditions etc., Maxwell equations for static fields are discussed. Unit-5 deals with the EM wave characteristics. EM wave propagation in different media like free space, dielectric, & a good conductor are discussed in detail. Parameters like propagation constant, phase constant, attenuation constant, velocity and wave equations are derived. Pointing theorem and average power radiated by the wave is determined. Reflection of planes waves normal incidence and oblique incidence are also discussed.
