本课程旨在帮助您成为 NCBI(美国国家生物技术信息中心)及其数据库的专业使用者。
The Biomedical Research is becoming increasingly data intensive so, the use of computational methods has become increasingly more common. As such, it is important that biomedical researchers and students are familiar with concept of informatics methods and in proportion to the influence these methods have in their fields. Particularly, Bioinformatics is a discipline of science that deals with the use of informatics for the examination and organization of biological data.It has been argued whether the current curricula can create Bioinformatics Scientists or just technicians educated in Bioinformatics methods, but either way we acknowledge that Bioinformatics is Important to varying degrees for progress in many fields. Most Researchers, however, have only a rough feel for the entry of bioinformatics methods into their field and often such impressions come well after the fact. This results in a slow approach to learning and/or in adopting such technologies. This course is mainly about the primary database browser called NCBI. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is part of the United States National Library of Medicine, a branch of the National Institutes of Health. The NCBI houses a series of Databases relevant to Biotechnology and Bio-medicine and is an important resource for Bioinformatics. In this Course we will be mainly covering the utilization gene or protein sequence form NCBI. The file formats that are used in NCBI. Utilizing the different database of NCBI mainly including Refseq sequence database, Homologene database, Taxonomy database and PubMed database.
