This is an introductory course for those students who are interested in networking, communication.It focus on Data transmission equipment's, types of data transmission. A data communication course provides a comprehensive understanding of how data is transferred between devices over networks. It covers the fundamental concepts, technologies, and protocols used in modern data communication systems, including network architecture, transmission techniques, error detection and correction, and networking protocols. Overview of different types of reference model is also included.The types of networking devices such as HUB, Switches, Gateway and in which layer they work in the reference model is also included.A significant portion is dedicated to networking models, particularly the OSI and TCP/IP models, detailing the roles and functions of each layer. Students learn about encoding and modulation techniques, multiplexing, and error detection and correction methods to ensure reliable communication.The course also delves into flow and error control mechanisms, including Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) protocols and data link layer protocols like HDLC and PPP. Switching techniques such as circuit, packet, and message switching are introduced, along with a thorough discussion on network devices like routers, switches, bridges, and gateways. Local Area Networks (LANs), Wireless LANs, and Wide Area Networks (WANs) are examined in depth, including Ethernet standards and wireless protocols.
