This meditation series is designed to help you develop a daily meditation habit. Our focus is on stillness meditation, which involves directing your mind to be aware of your body for an extended period. With just a few minutes of daily practice, you can experience spontaneous awareness, leading to a calm and focused mind.In the early stages, our focus is on the stillness of our body. Our mind can be like a child, often doing the opposite of what we ask it to do. However, by adopting a contrary approach that almost forces our mind to be aware of our body, we can cultivate inner peace and calmness. This technique helps our mind to calm down, focus, and be at peace. As we progress through the sessions, we learn to observe our senses and thoughts. This technique helps us gain greater control over our emotions and thoughts. With regular practice, you can experience a state of inner calm and peace, leading to greater self-awareness and a more fulfilling life.Meditation is a state of being that arises when we follow a meditation technique. We sit still in one of the classical meditation postures, ensuring our body is comfortable and still. Then, we withdraw our awareness from the senses and direct it inward. We steady our mind through the process of Kaya Sthairyam, which helps to quiet the mind and focus our attention. We then give a concentration method to our mind, such as watching our breath or repeating a mantra mentally. With practice, we can merge our awareness with the object of meditation, leading to a state of meditation and bliss that defies description. The early stages of meditation involve detachment from the senses (Pratyahara) and steadying the mind (Dharana), ultimately leading to mindless attention and merging (Dhyana), and a state of bliss that arises of its accord (Samadhi). Kaya Sthairyam is a simple technique of concentrating on the steadiness of the body. By focusing on the stillness of the body, we can achieve a state of inner calm and peace, leading to greater self-awareness and a more fulfilling life.In summary, the practice of stillness meditation can lead to greater self-awareness, inner calm, and peace. By adopting a contrary approach that almost forces our mind to be aware of our body, we can cultivate inner peace and calmness. With regular practice, we can experience a state of meditation and bliss that defies description, leading to a more fulfilling life.
