In this course, Great Britain and Newcastle Eagles Basketball coach, Ian MacLeod will take you step by step through the key components of basketball.Ian has worked with Newcastle Eagles Basketball team in the UK for almost 20 years, as both the Head Coach and now as the Development Manager for the Eagles Community Foundation. He also works as a coach with the Great Britain Junior Basketball team.The course will begin by introducing the basic dribbling, passing and shooting skills that underpin basketball, before learning to apply these skills to develop a strong offence as an individual and as a team..We'll also look at the defensive stance and how to guard against offensive players, using individual skills to 'deny' key players from receiving the ball or moving into the key, and working as a team pressure the offence into taking on difficult shots.We've added in some of Ian's lesson plans for you to learn some of the drills and progressions he uses to teach some of the skills throughout the course, and we'll provide you with some teaching resources to support your players and students to improve their understanding.By the end of the course, you should understand teach basketball to players at any stage of their development.See you on the court!
