This course gives concise first hand details of what physics is all about. The subject 'physics' is concisely defined. Furthermore, details about its relationship with energy and matter, the various properties of matter (electrical, thermal, optical, elastic and mechanical properties) are given. The various academic and career disciplines in physics that allow students to be aware of the jobs and windows of opportunities the study of physics can provide are explained as first hand notes to facilitate their ability to answer questions on these academic and career areas of physics. The course then goes further to provide concise practice notes on measurement, measuring instruments, physical quantities and the classes of physical quantities, units, conversion factors and conversions between units as well as the use of vernier calliper and micrometer screwgauge. Notes on dimensional analysis as a method of determination of units and dimensions of physical quantities are given. 'I do we do you do' approach is used introductorily all through to guide practice, questions/problems and prototype answers are modelled or exemplified for students' experience with reality, and then independent practice follows for students to consolidate learning. The background notes are given to enable students answer questions and solve problems independently and make progress as they learn.
