My program utilizes social science, psychology, and learning theory to foster meaningful, lasting change in individuals over time. I help new learners confront and reconcile the cognitive dissonance caused by culturally ingrained unconscious biases in American society, aligning what we see, experience, feel, and believe.Rather than relying solely on intuition, my approach emphasizes critical thinking and self-reflection to combat misinformation. By drawing on history, science, and our shared human experience, my programs empower individuals to create a more just and equitable society. Through education, participants learn best practices to drive meaningful change and contribute to a brighter future.Unlike other critical subjects, there is no central hub or platform where "white" people, in particular, are automatically required to learn the truth about our culture and history. The realities of systemic racism and cultural oppression are often whitewashed or omitted entirely in schools, leaving gaps in understanding that perpetuate misinformation. Even during Black History Month, the narratives shared are typically superficial, celebrating only a select few figures while failing to provide the depth and breadth needed to understand systemic inequities. My program seeks to bridge this void by uncovering hidden truths, fostering genuine understanding, and empowering individuals to drive meaningful change. Ideally, each video lecture of the program would be followed by a two-hour discussion session, either in person or online, to deepen understanding and encourage meaningful dialogue. This session would provide learners with the opportunity to:Reflect on New KnowledgeShare insights gained during the program and compare them to their prior understanding of American culture, history, and systemic racism.Engage in Open DialogueDiscuss how the new information challenges or reinforces their beliefs, and explore different perspectives in a supportive environment.Ask QuestionsSeek clarification on complex topics, address lingering uncertainties, and expand their understanding through guided conversation.Foster Critical ThinkingAnalyze the implications of what they've learned and connect it to their personal and professional lives.By creating a space for thoughtful discussion, this follow-up session ensures that learners can process new material effectively, identify areas for continued growth, and begin taking actionable steps toward equity and justice.
