Welcome to Module 2 of A Course in Celtic Spirituality. In this module we begin to look at the Celtic view of the divine. From the pagan Gods of the iron age celts, through to how the early Celtic Christians perceived God.The Celts did not perceive God as being distant, living in afar off place. For the Celts the divine was there beside them in everyday life. A relationship with the divine that bridged the gap between early pagan beliefs and the development of Celtic Christianity.Even up into the C19th examples of this closeness of the Divine can be traced in and visible in collections of highland prayers in the Carmina Gadelica by Alexander Carmichael. We will also be looking at the practice of living in the presence of the divine. Seeing the divine in all aspects of life. We are a part of a beautiful, divine universe, the creation of the divine. Living with this awareness changes our personal experience of life. This is followed by a guided meditation to help you.I will also share with you a little of my story about how I have grown to see the divine in my life. Often by hearing the stories of others we can learn and develop in our own understanding and to the Celts story was a large part of their culture. This section will inspire you to explore divinity within the Celtic Tradition and provides a recommended reading section for you to further your studies.
