In this course I'll show you step by step how to paint great landscapes using water-mixable oils. Starting with an introduction to these amazingly versatile paints and a short list of materials you will need, we then move on to paint a simple landscape. After this we will paint several more landscapes, each one focussing on an important element such as trees, skies, water and buildings. As a bonus I will show you my studio setup and also what you need for painting in oils outdoors en plein air.The paintings in this course are all alla prima which means painted in one go, and you can complete each one in around an hour to an hour and a half. I will show you how to complete each step (drawing, blocking in, refining, and adding details) for each painting. You get to see every brushstroke and also my mixing palette as we go through the paintings.Water-mixable oils are a great alternative to traditional oils and in my opinion are better to use. You dilute the paint in water and clean the brushes and palette in water with a bit of soap as well. They don't smell, so can be used indoors, and you don't need turps or thinners. This makes them easily transportable, safe, and very user friendly. As with traditional oils you can cover mistakes, make changes and work light over dark or dark over light, giving you great freedom in your painting process.So, why not give them a go. I did and now they are my go to choice of painting medium!
