This course shows how to build basic Expert Advisors for MetaTrader 5 that are based on popular technical indicators. The course focuses on the pair Gold-USD, but the coding principles apply to any financial instrument. The learning concept is "learning by watching": you are not required to carry out coding exercises during the course. The course first covers and narrates step-by-step how to trade with some of the most popular technical indicators. Thereafter the course shows what to consider when back-testing and optimizing Expert Advisors, and how to create a so-called local network farm (that is, parallel computing) to speed up the optimization process.This is followed by step-by-step coding of six Expert Advisors that carry out medium-frequency trading. First, the course shows how to build an Expert Advisor base code platform that includes key functionalities such as, for instance, trailing stop, dynamic lotsize calculator, new candle function, and an open position counter function. Thereafter the course shows how to complement this base code platform with code specific for six popular technical indicators, resulting in six fully functioning Expert Advisors.The coding process is narrated and fully explained, and only very basic coding procedures are used: often simplicity is best. In addition, all source code is complemented by extensive written comment sections for easy understanding. Of these six Expert Advisors, I also show and narrate the back-testing and optimization process for the first five. As for the final and sixth Expert Advisor: the course leaves the back-testing and optimization process to you!
