Practice TestsThis course provides an in-depth exploration of the 2024 International Residential Code (IRC) Chapter 11, focusing on energy efficiency requirements for residential buildings. Participants will learn about the building thermal envelope, insulation standards, air sealing techniques, and mechanical system efficiency to ensure compliance with energy codes. The course covers prescriptive, performance, and Energy Rating Index (ERI) compliance paths, along with key testing procedures such as blower door tests and duct leakage testing. Designed for building professionals, code officials, and designers, this course equips attendees with the knowledge to implement and verify energy-efficient construction practices that meet or exceed 2024 IRC standards.A Residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner is responsible for reviewing submitted construction documents and performing inspections of residential buildings, building sites and associated systems and equipment. The Inspector/Plans Examiner will use the Energy code to ensure the effective use and conservation of energy over the useful life of the building by verifying building systems comply with the Energy code, including but not limited to thermal envelope, air barrier, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. The Inspector/Plans Examiner is responsible for determining the climate zone and applicable provisions for each project as well as determining when the commercial provisions are applicable.
