Managing global projects can present unique challenges. In this project management course, we will address cultural and social differences within organizations, among and within countries, language and dialect variations, religious, regulatory and legal practices and political contexts. We will explore project management practices for global projects by successfully enabling the project manager to navigate this expanding market. The course will utilize case studies and examples from companies to help students sharpen their project management skills to recognize and implement an environment that supports success in an international project environment.

First, you will learn how to effectively manage global teams including how to build trust and collaboration across various countries cultures, time zones and languages.

Second, you will learn how to effectively communicate across global teams. Communication in a global project environment is the most critical aspect for success yet the most challenging and often overlooked element of a global project. You will learn how to use communication channels effectively in a global project environment.

Third, you will explore how organizational and project structures are effectively designed to enable global projects to succeed.

Finally, you will learn how collaboration tools can enhance the global project experience and promote collaboration.

This course is part of the RIT Project Management MicroMasters that is designed to teach how to successfully deliver projects in an international environment. In order to qualify for the MicroMasters, you will need to earn a verified certificate in each of the three courses as well as pass a capstone exam
