Preludes are short works of music that have varied in form and style throughout the past three centuries. In this course, you will learn three famous preludes, each from a different era; the first was written by Bach, the second by Chopin, and third by Debussy.

• You will learn to play three well-known and enjoyable preludes: J.S. Bach’s Prelude in C Major, Frédéric Chopin’s Prelude in E minor, and Claude Debussy’s The Girl with the Flaxen Hair.
• You will improve your piano technique, including dynamics, phrasing, voice leading, chord voicing, complex rhythms, and sight reading.
• You will build effective strategies for learning a new piece with confidence.
• You will learn about the historical significance of the prelude and its place in history.
