Wharton's Applied Knowledge Capstone Project enables you to apply your analytic skills to real business challenges – including your own. You’ll use your newly earned business skills to thoughtfully evaluate a real situation or opportunity from Wharton-governed companies like Shazam and SnapDeal. You can also prepare strategic analysis and proposed solution to a challenge faced by your own company or organization. Wharton-trained staff will evaluate the top submissions, and leadership teams at Shazam and SnapDeal will review the highest scoring projects prepared for their companies.
Learners will choose a real business challenge from Shazam or Snapdeal, or use an example from their own work to thoughtfully evaluate, and then communicate their analysis clearly to their peers, Wharton-trained staff, and relevant industry partner leadership.
Learning Objectives:
● Identify the benefits and risk points of a real business opportunity
● Develop a strategy to capitalize on the business opportunity
● Communicate your analysis and plans clearly and with precision
Students will create a strategic memo, slide deck or video presentation, in which they recommend a go-to-market strategy for their business challenge.
Students will define the opportunity, identify the major benefits and risks, and present a go-to-market plan, including the following key elements:
● Marketing: Develop a customer-centric communications/marketing plan for the new products.
● Finance/Accounting: Develop a financial model (e.g., discounted cash flow model) of the potential project. This will include cost and revenue projections.
● Operations Management: Outline a production and/or service plan for new project.
