Develop expertise in basic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) physics and principles and gain knowledge of many different data acquisition strategies in MRI

课程大纲

Week One : Overview of MRI. History of MRI, Comparison with other biomedical imaging modalities, MRI magnet, RF coils, gradient coils.

Week Two: Magnetic resonance phenomenon. microscopic MRI, Larmor equation, RF pulse, relaxation

Week Three: Review of basic signal processing principle. Fourier transform.

Week Four : Formation of an MR image. Concept of slice selection, frequency encoding, phase encoding, k-space, etc.

Week Five : MR imaging parameters and image contrast. Concept of imaging parameters such as TR, TE, FOV, matrix, etc, and image contrast such as T1-weighting, T2-weighting, T2*-weighting.

Week Six : MRI data acquisition strategies. Spin echo, gradient echo, fast spin echo, echo planar imaging, 3D imaging, etc.

In this course learners will develop expertise in basic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) physics and principles and gain knowledge of many different data acquisition strategies in MRI. In particular, learners will get to know what is magnetic resonance phenomenon, how magnetic resonance signals are generated, how an image can be formulated using MRI, how soft tissue contrast can change with imaging parameters. Also introduced will be MR imaging sequences of spin echo, gradient echo, fast spin echo, echo planar imaging, inversion recovery, etc.
