This course applies principles learned in my course “Introduction to Engineering Mechanics” to analyze real world engineering structures.  You will need to have mastered the engineering fundamentals from that class in order to be successful in this course offering.  This course addresses the modeling and analysis of static equilibrium problems with an emphasis on real world engineering systems and problem solving.  

课程大纲

There will be a 5 week class with a total of 30 modules (approximately 10 minutes each) in the course.  There will be a graded quiz each week.

  • Week One – Applications of the equations of static equilibrium to interacting bodies or parts of a structure; systems containing multi-force members; frames and machines
  • Week Two – Plane trusses
  • Week Three –Space Trusses; Shear Force and Bending Moment diagrams
  • Week Four – Cable support systems
  • Week Five – Coulomb friction and belt friction

这门课非常不错,之前的入门虽然给了4颗星但是其实心里想的是3星半,这次虽然给的是4星半但是其实想的是5星。两门课应该一起给分比较公平。。。
跟导论结合非常紧密,而且如同名字一样非常重视应用,上完之后对于日常生活中的静力学都是可以有更好的理解的,比如一根杆哪里受力最大,哪里承受的力矩最大,在那些支架支撑的结构中那些杆其实是不受力只是为了美观加上去的,之类的问题。当然我跟我个人重应用轻理论也有关。
另外和(至少我当时)国内教学的不同点是不仅仅是力平衡,对于受力点和力矩平衡也是一样的很强调。2D三个平衡,3D六个平衡,解题全靠这个。
计算机课上多了上上这种需要用手算的课感觉也挺好的。
